Er entzau­bert gängige Klischees von Poli­zei­ar­beit, wie sie Fernsehen, Film und Krimi­nal­roman kulti­vieren, und entblößt sie jeglicher Romantik.

Episode from the tele­vi­sion series Enquêtes de police, made for the French network La Sept/Arte by director Mosco Boucault. He inves­ti­gates the assas­si­na­tion of a fifteen-year-old black boy, who was the victim of a sett­le­ment between two drug gangs in the black ghetto of Phil­adel­phia.
Using the fly-on-the-wall style, Boucault follows the activi­ties of inspec­tors David Baker and Julie Hill. At the same time, he draws a revealing picture of life on the fringes of society in this American citiy and tones down the roman­ti­cized image of police work, as exhibited in detective stories, TV series and cop movies.
