»Sorgen, Geld, Karriere, schneller Lebens­stil, Stress – all das ist Teil des Alltags heut­zu­tage und manchmal entsteht der Wunsch aus diesem Kreis auszu­bre­chen. Es muss noch etwas anderes im Leben geben, wenn nicht hier, dann woanders. Den Traum vom Paradies, dem glück­li­chen Leben ohne Sorgen haben wir vermut­lich alle einmal geträumt. Aber sind wir dafür bereit, ein anderes Leben zu führen, bereit andere Gedanken zu denken und andere Gefühle zu fühlen? Nur wenige haben den Mut und die Entschlos­sen­heit dies einmal auszu­pro­bieren. Der Kapitän Leonhard Niit aus Hiiumaa in Estland hat es versucht, hat versucht dem Kreislauf der Schwie­rig­keiten zu entfliehen, und dabei sich selbst. Ob er es geschafft hat oder nicht, davon handelt der Film. PALANGI ist poly­ne­sisch und heißt „weißer Mann“

Worries, money, career, fast lifestyle, stress – all that is part of usual everyday life nowadays and once in a while there is a want to get out of this circle. There has to be something else in life and if not here then somewhere else. A dream of a beautiful paradise and happy life without worries has probably been at least once in the mind of all of us. But are we ready for it, ready to live a different way of life, think different kind of thoughts and feel different kind of feelings? Very few of us have the courage and deter­mi­na­tion to try it in reality. A captain from Hiiumaa, Estland, Leonhard Niit has tried it, tried to escape from the squirrel’s wheel of troubles of white man, thereby from himself. Has he managed it or not, that is what the film PALANGI is about. Palangi is Poly­ne­sian for white man.

BIO-FILMOGRAPHIE
Renita Lintrop

Geboren 1955 in Tallinn, Estland. Studierte Philo­logie und Jour­na­lismus an der Tartu Univer­sität. Dreh­buch­au­torin des estni­schen TV-Film Studios und der Anima­ti­ons­filme im Tallinn­film Studio, hier war sie auch Leiterin der Abteilung Doku­men­tar­film. Gegen­wärtig Dreh­buch­au­torin und Leiterin des unab­hän­gigen Film­stu­dios SEE, das Renita und Hannes Lintrop 1991 gegründet haben.

Hannes Lintrop

Geboren 1958 in Tallinn, Estland. Studierte am Pädago­gi­schen College im Bereich Kultur und Theater. Doku­men­tar­filmer beim estni­schen TV-Film Studio und beim Tallinn­film Studio. Derzeit Dreh­buch­autor, Leiter und Produzent des unab­hän­gigen Film­stu­dios SEE.
