Selten sind Menschen mit ihrem Leben zufrieden. Aina, die »Eier-Frau«, ist eine der wenigen Ausnahmen: täglich schlägt sie per Hand bis zu 20 000 Eier für eine lettische Bäckerei auf; dabei ist sie glücklich, denn diese Tätigkeit erlaubt ihr, während der Arbeit über das Leben nach­zu­denken.

Aina breaks eggs up to 20 000 by hand all day for a Latvian bakery company. To an outside observer, the job appears meaningless when most similar enter­prises can afford to automate such tasks. But Aina says her work brings her fulfil­ment. She says that spending all day breaking eggs »allows me to think a great deal about life.« This is the theme of the film – how Aina thought her life would be, how it actually is, and how she has recon­ciled dreams and realities to be happy with things as they are.

Studium an der Univer­sität von Lettland, am Film­in­stitut VGIK und am Film und TV Directors Depart­ment in Moskau. Von 1985 bis 1991 Arbeit als Regie­as­sis­tentin und Regis­seurin im Riga Film Studio. 1992-93 Free­lancer für Swedish TV und BBC World Service und für das lettische Privat­fern­sehen. 1995-2001 Arbeit als Regis­seurin in privaten Film­stu­dios.
