»Der Film sucht stilis­tisch den Tanzstil von Mathilde Monnier aufzu­greifen, während er sich ihrem Oeuvre annähert. Das Porträt der Künst­lerin will ebenso ihre Gedanken wie ihr Bühnen­werk einfangen. Indem sie bei Übungen, während der Produk­tion und in Auffüh­rungen gezeigt wird, treten neben ihr auch die Darsteller auf und es entfaltet sich der Entste­hungs­pro­zess der Tanz­stücke. Die Darstel­lung der Kunst und Disziplin der Choreo­gra­phie, der körper­li­chen Anfor­de­rungen, der notwen­digen Konzen­tra­tion, um Synchronie zu erreichen, und des Moments, in dem eine Idee ihren körper­li­chen Ausdruck findet, spielen ebenso eine Rolle, wie die eigent­liche Aufgabe von Tanz und Film, die Unter­hal­tung. Intel­lek­tua­lität wird übersetzt in Bewegung und verliert bei dieser Über­set­zung nichts.

In a cinematic style parallel to the fits and starts of Mathilde Monniers distinct oeuvre, this portrait of the artist seems to capture what’s on her mind as well as what’s on stage. Shown in practice, produc­tion and perfor­mance, the process as well as the players emerge. The art and disci­pline of choreo­gra­phic stra­te­gies, the physical demands and required concen­tra­tion for synchrony, and the moment of an incor­po­ra­tion of invention are all here but never forget­ting the rule for both dance and film to entertain. Intel­lec­tua­lity trans­lated into movement loses nothing in this trans­la­tion.
