»Am Anfang des 20. Jahr­hun­derts brachte die Salpeter-Industrie eine Menge Menschen in die Atacama Wüste im Norden Chiles. Sie bauten dort die Stadt Victoria, ein Symbol von Moderne und Wohlstand. Heute ist Victoria eine Ruine mit sechs Einwoh­nern, und es sind nur noch Spuren der glor­rei­chen Vergan­gen­heit übrig­ge­blieben. Der Film rekon­stru­iert die Ereig­nisse, die Victoria dazu verur­teilten, in Verges­sen­heit zu geraten.

In northern Chile, at the beginning of this century, the industry of saltpetre drove people into the Atacama desert where they built up a town, Victoria, a symbol of modernity and prospe­rity. Today, Victoria is a ruin with 6 inha­bi­tants where there only remain traces of a glorious past. The film recon­structs the courses of events that doomed Victoria to oblivion.
