»Der Film ist ein bahn­bre­chend persön­li­cher Doku­men­tar­film, der die Phänomene Selbst­mord und Depres­sion in aufrich­tiger und erhel­lender Weise erforscht. Es geht um die Realität einer Mutter, die aufgrund einer Depres­sion aus dem Leben schied, und um die Wirkung ihres Selbst­mords auf das Leben ihrer Tochter, ihrer Familie und ihrer Freunde. Ungefähr alle 18 Minuten ereignet sich in den USA eine Selbst­tö­tung – über 32 000 jedes Jahr. Das macht dort den Selbst­mord zur neun­t­häu­figsten Todes­ur­sache, die 10 000 mehr Menschen­leben kostet als Mord und Totschlag. Wenn jedes Selbst­mord­opfer etwa sechs Leute kennt, wächst die Zahl der Menschen, die von Selbst­mord betroffen sind, jedes Jahr um Hundert­tau­sende.

The film is a ground­brea­king personal docu­men­tary which explores the topics of suicide and depres­sion in an honest and eye-opening manner. It reveals the reality of one mother’s life cut short by a disease called depres­sion and the effect of this suicide on her daughter, her family and her friends. There is appro­xi­mately one suicide every 18 minutes in the United States – over 32,000 per year. This makes suicide the ninth leading cause of death; taking 10,000 more lives than homicide every year. If each victim of suicide knows appro­xi­mately six people, the numbers of people touched by suicide grows by the hundreds of thousand each year.
