»Sechs israe­li­sche Frauen, die zwischen 1910 und 1920 als Pionie­rinnen den Männern eben­bürtig den israe­li­schen Staat aufbauen halfen, erzählen von ihren Idealen und Träumen. Konfron­tiert werden sie dabei mit einer verän­derten Rolle der Frau im Israel der 80er-Jahre: Die Gleich­be­rech­ti­gung von einst ist zum Mythos geworden, die Frauen wurden mit der Norma­li­sie­rung des Lebens auf konven­tio­nelle Posi­tionen zurück­ge­drängt. ANOU BANOU, eine Studie weib­li­cher Eman­zi­pa­tion, veran­schau­licht mit Doku­men­tar­film­ma­te­rial und Inter­viewaus­schnitten die Geschichte des Staates Israel bis in die 80er-Jahre hinein.

ANOU BANOU, a study of female eman­ci­pa­tion, documents by means of both action footage and talking heads the story of the State of Israel. It details the resource­ful­ness and inde­pen­dence of six women, born at the beginning of the century in Russia of Poland, who came to Israel in the twenties and dedicated their lives to the cause of their new country. A retelling of their lives leads into a document about the present situation of Israel.
