Wenn Nackt­mo­delle für Maler und Bildhauer posieren, geraten sie in eine komplexe Befind­lich­keit, auch wenn sie äußerlich ruhig und unbe­weg­lich erscheinen. Körper und Seele müssen in unnatür­li­chen Stel­lungen verharren. Physische Ausdauer, Selbst­be­herr­schung und die Bereit­schaft, sich anderen völlig zur Verfügung zu stellen, sind die wich­tigsten, aber nicht einzigen Voraus­set­zungen für den Beruf eines profes­sio­nellen Modells. Ein Beruf, der das Selbst­bild einer Person tagtäg­lich in Frage stellt und dann auch wieder bestätigt. Sechs profes­sio­nelle Modelle in der Schule der Schönen Künste in Athen führen diesen beson­deren Beruf vor. Durch ihre Persön­lich­keit und Erfah­rungen zeigt der Film das Paradoxon, die Banalität und die unbe­kannten Prot­ago­nisten hinter dem künst­le­ri­schen Schaf­fens­prozeß.

Nude models who pose for painters and sculptors get involved in complex situa­tions although they seem tranquil and static. Both body and soul are forced into unnatural condi­tions. Physical endurance, self control and placing oneself totally at the disposal of others are the main but not the only prere­qui­sites for being a profes­sional model; a job that questions and rein­forces your selfimage every day. Through the eyes of six profes­sional models, at the School of Fine Arts in Athens, we see the intri­ca­cies of this peculiar job and how they cope with ist. Through their perso­na­li­ties and expe­ri­ences the film attempts to show the paradox, the banality and the unknown prot­ago­nists behind the creation of art.

BIO-FILMOGRAPHIE Maria Leonida

Geboren 1969 in Athen. Studium der Geschichte in Grie­chen­land und der Kunst­ge­schichte in Großbri­tan­nien. Zwei Jahre Arbeit in London in der Film­pro­duk­tion. Studium am European Film College in Dänemark. Seit fünf Jahren Tätigkeit als Festi­val­ko­or­di­na­torin in Grie­chen­land und Großbri­tan­nien.
