Confluences – Old Havana, Habitat of Latinamerican Art

Conflu­ences ist eine Reise zu den Werken von 15 zeit­genös­si­schen latein­ame­ri­ka­ni­schen Künstlern. Eine fiktio­nale Person kommt nach einiger Zeit der Abwe­sen­heit nach Havanna zurück. Er schlen­dert durch die Altstadt und macht dabei Betrach­tungen über Werke latein­ame­ri­ka­ni­scher Künstler. So versucht sie die Kunst­ob­jekte Havannas in den histo­ri­schen und kultu­rellen Rahmen der Stadt einzu­be­ziehen. Ein Film über die histo­ri­sche Archi­tektur Havannas auf der einen und über die zeit­genös­si­sche Bild­hau­er­kunst auf der anderen Seite. Er wurde im Juni 1997 während einer Kunst­bi­en­nale in Havanna gedreht.

Conflu­ences is a journey through the work of 15 contem­porary Latin-american artists on the subject of memory and its occur­rence in the sculp­tural arts. A fictional character returns after some time to Havana. He roams the old town and, during this stroll which draws us closer to the archi­tec­tural essence and idio­syn­cra­sies of this Caribbean city, he comes across the work of the Latin America artists.The docu­men­tary attemps to encompass these artistic objec­tives within the historic and cultural framework of the city, linking the urban and archi­tec­tural heritage of examples of contem­porary art. This docu­men­tary was shot in Havana in June 1997 during a Fine Arts Biennal.

Geboren 1961 in Madrid. Studium von audio­vi­suller Kommu­ni­ka­tion und Produk­tion an der Univer­sität von Madrid. Lehr­auf­trag an der Inter­na­tional Cinema and TV School of Havana. Verschie­dene Auftrags-Video­filme und Video-Clips. Leiterin der Produk­ti­ons­firma Habana Produc­ciones. 1998 Produk­ti­ons­be­ginn der Doku­men­tar­film­serie „Cities and Contem­pora­nean Art“, deren erster Teil Old Havana, Habitat of Latin American Art ist.
