" Vittorio de Seta hat in Sizilien mehrere Dokumentarfilme gedreht, in CinemaScope und ohne jeglichen (gesprochenen oder musikalischen) Kommentar. Dieser Film beschreibt die typisch sizilianische Art des Thunfischfangs. Die Ausrufe und die Lieder der Fischer und die Geräusche des Wassers machen jede andere Form des Kommentars auf der Tonspur überflüssig.
Vittorio de Seta has made in Sicily a group of documentaries in cinemascope and all of them without any commentary, both spoken and musical. One of them is "Contadini del Mare", which describes the catching of tuna fish with the typical system used in Sicily, and where the exclamations and the singing of fishermen and the noise of water replace every other form of sound commentary.
